Firstly I would sign up for an adwords account. It seems to have the best results. If you go to my profile and follow adsense you will see the sign up button down the bottom of the page. Its free and goes straight to Google. When you get your account research your keywords and formulate your listing. It easy to do as you are walked through the process.
Don’t start any PPC campaign until you join this group. It’s an incredible recource for affiliate marketers and you will save a LOT of money by learning things here first. The forum on this site is unbelievable. Members are very open with advice on what is necessary to be successfull as an affiliate marketer and what to avoid.
Good luck in your new venture. It’s very rewarding once your work turns in to earning $$
