Francis Lewis University Scholars Program?
Okay here’s the deal. I got a four on the New York State math exam for the eighth grade, and I got a four under New York state English exam for the eighth grade. I got accepted to Benjamin N. Cardozo’s Da Vinci Math and Science Institute. I also got accepted to Francis Lewis’s University Scholars program. where should I go?????????????????????????
The da Vinci program is special because students are allowed to take science honors courses. But I’m not sure why da Vinci is not affiliated with math honors courses. A recent graduate from Cardozo da Vinci told me that the AP physics course and AP biology and AP English language course sucks to the point that they don’t help you prepare for the AP examination at the end of the year. Out of the students who took the AP courses in those areas only a few scores of fives on the AP exam. She also told me that the “research” you do at Cardozo da Vinci is actually bull*. It’s all fluff and no stuff. She told the research you do is really not prestigious research top colleges want students to take. She told me the top colleges and universities never even heard about da Vinci, I do not care about it. She said The teachers who teach da Vinci don’t know how to teach, making chemistry seem confusing. The chemistry teacher did not prepare students for the regents. even da Vinci students 80s and 70s on the regents. The chemistry teacher merely pressured the students to compete against each other. Cardozo used to be very prestigious, having 7 to 10 people attended Ivy League. However recently Cardozo has become less prestigious, at I do not know why. I live in Bayside and Cardozo is right next to me. People smoke around the building. Just hearing the name “Da Vinci Math and Science Institute” makes me want to go to the school. However, it seems to be that looks can be deceiving. The valedictorian of Francis Lewis last year (now attending Ivy League institution ) told me that the University Scholars Program allowed her to take all honor courses and AP courses as possible. (Come to think of it, that is what the top universities like Harvard and the Yale want students to do, take the most rigorous courses possible.) She was able to take all AP courses as possible -Seven!! She was also able to take all honors courses too. She had only an average 3 to 4 hours of sleep per night. Francis Lewis offered AP physics, AP chemistry, AP biology, AP English language, AP Spanish, AP economics, AP psychology, AP US history, AP world history, AP English literature, and many more. It’s no wonder that top students go to top universities, like Columbia University and MIT. It seems to me that the top universities and colleges want students to take the most rigorous course. The do not care about what program you are in. If you’re in a top program like da Vinci, but you are not taking AP courses, and are getting 70s and 80s on the regents, then colleges don’t give a * about you.

dude, u r right…I have a friend at Cardozo and she is not doing good in chemistry. She is failing chemistry because the teacher is not teaching well. She’s not really prepared for the regents too. The teacher just throws at her hard questions and don’t help her out. She told me that da Vinci is not what she expected. even though she was in da Vinci, she did not get a at least a 90 biology regents. This happens to students at other schools to, even the specialized high schools. Da Vinci is all fluff and no stuff like you said.I’m currently a senior at Francis Lew is High school, you were talking about the valedictorian last year. she was in the University Scholars program, like me. the valedictorian was in my APchemistry class!!! She works like hell. she don’t play. She doesn’t even have lunch break. She eats during AP chemistry class. But I observe her closely, she doesn’t seem smart. in class when teacher asks her questions she gets them wrong at times. But I notice that she works hard, she takes her work seriously will even finish her work and study for tests with only three hours sleep. I’m sometimes surprised that she gets higher scores than me, even though I feel I’m smarter than her. I guess it all boils down to doing the work, she studied hard by Tracy for the regents and for the SAT IItoShe took all AP classes as possible. yeah, she really did deserve to go to an Ivy League. I guess the Ivy League institution [transcript and saw 90s, high SAT scores, High SAT IIs, and High regents grades. Which college wouldn’t choose to admit her..lol.yeah you’re right, da Vinci is not all what it’s cracked up to be. but go to Cardozo if live near it. it won’t hurt.
Man!!! you got accepted to THE UNIVERISTY SCHOLARS PROGRAM too, WHOA!!!!!!!!!!
You are about to make a decision that will impact the next four years of your whole life!!!!!!!!!!! Yo bro, make a wise decision, or else you will regret it like that person who is failing chemistry due to a stupid teacher at Cardozo and a whack “fluffed” name. trust me, dont go to Da Vinci “math and science institute” those words sound cool, but its a joke.
I go to Francis Lewis’s University Scholars program and it’s intense and will prepare me for college work at an Ivy League School. The University Scholars Program forces us to challenge ourselves with all honor courses and to take all APs as much a possbile. In addition, all the professors are top notch and teach really good. Only the brightest are in the University Scholars Program. Seriously, congratulations for even being accepted to the University Scholars Program. Wow, you got into the program.. Cooool. Yep, you are one of the top students who are smart enough to decide that the University Scholars program is way better than Da Vinci. Da Vinci is only science honors, thats it.!! University Scholars is ALLLLL HONORSSSS. The unviersity Scholars program has the top students, and exellent teachers. There is tutoring available that is one-on-one. The rigorous course will and i mean will prepare you for the regents and SATIIs. There is no competition and no one worries about other people because everyone are the top students in the University Scholars program.. All of my teachers made learning chemistry extremely easy. I ended up getting a 97 on the Chemistry and 94 on the Physics reagents. It was not really my studying that helped me. the teachers prepared us rigorously for the biology, chemistry and physics exam. I couldn’t have done it without them I even got a perfect 5 score on the AP Chemistry exam with a 760 on the Chemistry SAT II. the program offers AP Physics. The course is rigorous and colleges will snatch me for even bother taking it. Get real, if you were Harvard, who would you pick, a student who Took lots of AP and scored high on SAT and Regents, or would you pick a person who was in Da vinci and took only science honors course and did poorly in them and didnt do good in the regents and low SAT score.
Man!!!
CONGRATULATIONS For getting into THE UNIVERISTY SCHOLARS PROGRAM. HOLYS***. See u at Harvard.
Holy Smokes!!, you got accepted to the University Scholars Program?!!!??? I got into Stuyvesant, but I got flat-out rejected from that program. What is your 7th grade and 8th grade averages? They care a lot about your average, because it shows them if you are the hard worker types. You must be one of those hard worker types. Yeah, you will go far dude. dude, congratulations. wow. I live right next to Francis Lewis and I feel kind of pissed for getting rejected from that program. You know the University Scholars Program, (not the school), it is ranked #26 in the whole nation. Sh*t. You are among the elite. Congratulations!
