The anti-corruption program didn’t gather dust. In fact the outcome of the investigation that found the opposition complicity was negated by these same parties. Sri Lanka is in a unique situation, as she has lived through such a long term of conflict the media reports from 15 years to as many as 37 years. During the entire tenure of conflict Sri Lanka has maintained responsibility to its citizens for universal education, universal healthcare and scores of other benefits. War profiteering (many times extraordinarily corrupt) exists with any party that can wheedle their way into a conflict theatre.

Lingam is a well known nome de guerre of the LTTE arms running/fund raising arm. Above and beyond that many of the old faithful of the LTTE that have been directing operations from abroad and vociferously supporting LTTE tactics and methodology as well as raising funds for illegal activities have suddenly in the last two weeks (or less) turned a leaf and consider themselves no longer LTTE representatives but the voice of Sri Lanka Tamils. After thirty years of creating, supporting and perpetuating terroristic activities that have killed innocents, stolen identities, gravely disrupted legitimate political and economic activity, assassinated world leaders and floated one hoax after another it would be very understandable that it would take more than 14 days or 14 months of a paradigm change to be considered a legitimate source for social, political, economic or educational progress in Sri Lanka.

I got a 2260 on my SAT (770M, 790CR, 700W) and took the US History and English Lit. subject tests, although I have not yet received my scores. I have only taken two AP tests thus far (11th grade English and US History), and although I do not know my scores yet, I am confident that I received two 5s (when I took the practice tests, I got 5s easily).

I have taken the most rigorous classes that my school has to offer, provided that I can fit Band and sports. I actually go to three different high schools (one for band, one for academics, one for sports), and my academics high school is on a block schedule, so taking band every day actually encompasses two full periods at my academic high school.

Freshman year I took a required technology course, Biology (honors was not offered), Honors English, Honors Geometry, Wind Ensemble, and ran Cross Country and played baseball. Sophomore year I took Honors English, Honors World History, Honors Algebra II, and Honors Chemistry. Junior year I took AP English, AP US History, Physics (band nixed my opportunity to take AP), and Honors Trigonometry/Calculus A. Senior year I will be taking AP English, AP Government/Honors Economics, AP Calculus BC, and AP Biology. In my sophomore, junior, and senior years I ran Cross Country and Track and Field, Varsity in both. My academic high school is a magnet school ranked in the top 150 high schools in the nation.

I have also taken a few classes at our local community college. I took Spanish 1 and 2 during the summers preceding my Sophomore and Junior years, and a Jazz Harmony course during my Junior year.

I am the Debate Captain of the Political Action and Awareness Club, and co-founder and Music Director of our new Glee/a Capella club. I am in the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony, a high level high school group that is affiliated with the Santa Barbara Symphony (I play clarinet). I am a past member of the All-State Honor Band here in California (which, I hear, is one of the best in the nation) and the MERIT summer chamber music camp. I am also a co-founder of the Ventura Woodwind Quintet, which made a small profit.

I worked as an Assistant with the Junior Lifeguard program during the summer preceding my Junior year, and I plan to volunteer with the organization this summer. I volunteered with the Tigres Youth Track and Field program and the Harbor Lights race series. My volunteer hours should add up to considerably over 300 hours.

I graduated with a degree in IT engineering from an engineering college affiliated to University Of Pune, India in 2009. While still in college I did not have any job offer from any IT companies visiting our campus, all due to low grades and poor academic performance. I managed to get a job off campus where I was hired as an Trainee Software Developer in a start-up IT company. I started working there but my job was more of QA where I would test the mobile games that are being developed and port them from J2ME to Android to some extent.

After studying 4 years of engineering, I realized that I am not interested working much into technology as working on the business side. So i made up mind and resigned from the job after 5 months.As I was more keen on getting broader business experience before pursuing a full time career in any industry & becoming an expert in that field, so I started doing research about Strategy Consulting and dreaming working in MCKinsey/BCG/ Bain. I applied for above three and a few other but all in vain as I never got through, as I realized it is highly impossible to get into these companies with such low grades and no work experience. Also these companies mostly hire IIT graduates.

My academic performance is very average with very little extra curricular.

During that 1 year gap in engineering I worked for 7 months as an IT Support Engineer in the IT department of an construction company where my work was to troubleshoot hardware/software/LAN/WAN problem, installing & updating software packages/LAN/WAN, and conducting a review of the configuration of computers in the organization.

After 6 months of gap since resignation from the first job after graduation I managed to get a job of an Analyst from one of the Big 4 for their Risk Advisory services. Here my work revolves around AUTOMOBILE/MANUFACTURING companies, where I help my team members in creating Standard Operating Procedures, Internal Audit, conducting business process reviews and formatting word documents & PPT, creating minutes of meetings in Microsoft office 2007.

As I have very less interest in programming and my programming skills are also average, I took up this job which pays me over Rs.15,000/- a month. Its been more than 1 month since I took up this job. Most of the people in my team (15) are Chartered Accountants except for my manager who is an MBA graduate and is a Mechanical Engineering degree undergraduate. Also I came to that people working at this designation as me (Analyst) are mostly 99.99% commerce graduates, just out of their colleges .

My future plan is to pursue an MBA from an international B-school, 2-3 years from now. I am not expecting to get an admit in to Harvard or London Business school but I am aiming for an globally recognized institute. I took up this job because I thought the name of Big 4 on my resume would fill up the gaps due to poor academic performance during engineering. I am planning to work here for 2 years (1 at least) & I am thinking of trying again for Business Analyst position at McKinsey after 1 year. But this feeling of me being an IT engineer working with commerce undergraduates and doing Internal Audit is not letting me focus on my daily work hence my productivity is getting hampered.

I am really CONFUSED whether or not I have taken a right decision. I am wondering what impact this decision will have when I would be applying to top 20 b-schools in UK/US/France ?? Also does working in this area as an Analyst helps you getting a job in strategy consulting firms like McKinsey & Co, BCG etc ??

Affiliate programs have two basic functions. The first is to sell a product for a commission. Companies set up affiliate programs so they can get their product marketed by their affiliates. The second function of an affiliate program is to build the program by recruiting new affiliates. Besides selling products, the website also gives people the chance to become an affiliate themselves. When people sign up on an affiliates website the affiliate then gets a commission on anything that affiliate sells. This continues as each affiliate signs up more affiliates. It is a win-win situation for everyone involved. The company is getting an amazing amount of free advertising. All they had to do was set up and monitor the affiliate program. The affiliates do the rest. Many major companies are seeing the value of affiliate programs and are implementing their own programs.

One of the most confusing things about affiliate programs is that many are advertised by saying a person can make large amounts of money. While it is true that an affiliate who sells a lot of products and builds a team of affiliates under them who also sell and recruit good can make a large amount of money, it is not that simple. First of all, setting up a stable and strong team is difficult. There are so many people looking to make a quick dollar that half the people who sign up for these programs never even carry through and end up quitting within a few months. sales are usually rather low and a person needs the team members in order to be making a good commission. So, it is possible to make a good income, but it will take some time to do it.

Another things about affiliate programs that scares people is its close resemblance to a pyramid scheme. Anyone who has been interested in working at home or building a business has surely heard of a pyramid scheme. A pyramid scheme does involve recruiting people to sign up and making money off recruits, but the main difference, and the reason affiliate programs succeed where pyramid schemes fail, is that affiliate programs have an actual product to sell. If a program has a product to sell that is useful and something people would buy then they are an affiliate program not a pyramid scheme.

Affiliate programs offer a great way to build residual income. A person can be quite successful with an affiliate program if he or she works hard and persistent. The key thing is to learn how to advertise both online and offline to recruit new affiliates or sell products to custumors. They are not a scam and are a true way to earn some money.
