2 colleges to decide from: University of British Columbia vs. University of California, Santa Cruz. WHICH ONE?
UBC vs. Santa Cruz.
UBC:
Vancouver Canada
Rated 33rd best university in the world
In top 15th for best psych department — i wanna major in psych
Gorgeous campus
Tons of diversity
50,000 people
Far from home, can”t come back often
Don’t know ANYONE going there, or that applied there
Has a museum of anthropology
50% of students are asian
Cheaper then Santa cruz tuition wise
Free housing for freshmen
Big classes for first 2 years
Take classes for my majors all 4 years
Great opportunity for field studies and hands on research
Possibility of honors programs for my majors to work one on one with professors
Amazing asian food—i love asian food
Campus is near a big city
I LOVE CANADA
Hard to get citizenship
Have to get a student visa
Colder then I am used to
Santa Cruz:
I like this campus best
I know 12 people going there, 6 are my best friends, one is a guy i really really like
Close to home, can come home often
I will have lots of support as a freshmen
Could definitely play sports and have fun
School is really isolated
Not a whole lot to do, right near the school
Lots of wide open land
Really good anthropology program
pretty good psych program
Don’t take classes for my major until junior year
You affiliate with a college and it provides a lot of support
I have talked to people that go there, everyone LOVES it!
Lots of drugs around the campus
Lots of homeless people
School is near a SMALL town
Kinda near SF though
Good literature program
Would have a place to move into after freshmen year
HELP PLEASE
I have till may first to decide.
Financial aid:
Both are about equal pricing, UBC the Canadian school is somewhat cheaper, but with the student visa costs, shipping everything and a new wardrobe it will equal out.

All depends on what you are searching for. What sort of financial aid did you receive for both, if Canada is cheaper, in comparison to the UC, pick that one, but remember the transportation costs, and the wardrobe that you will have to buy.
